More Than One Content Area

Post by Ted »

I definatly can.

Say you have a site where you have a few users, like a school. Teachers each have their own little playground to mess with. Now, the layout (template) has a few different places where the content should change, but the rest of the page should stay the same.

Now, say the layout has a main section, and then a little quote box to the right, etc...

So right now, the end user is in charge of making sure the divs are in the right place, etc. Using an HTML blob doesn't really help, since there is a different one per page.

I think multiple content blocks will give us a ton of flexibility for these kinds of situations.

Exactly. Like websites that have main content and a side bar.

has there been any progress on these ideas?
all i'm asking is, are they likely to be included in the next version?

Not the next version, but the version after. I guess that would be 0.10.

sweet - fair enough :)

sorry, i'm new to this project, don't want to come across as pushy, but do you know (roughly) when that would be out?

At the rate I'm moving at the moment, I would guess by early-mid March. I'm expecting 0.9 to come out the week after next, and I guess it would take me approximately 2-3 weeks to write up the template parser that will be necessary to make multiple content types work.

All just rough estimates, though. It all depends on how much time and motivation I have...

Yep more than 1 may be 2 or 3 if your going to the troule to implement this may more!

I've come up against an issue with TinyMCE it just dosen't cut it for complex editing
The only way to manage this as far as I can see is to break the content down on your page

It's my understanding that this has now been implemented. This a forum thread called 'content blocking'. Do a search and you'll find basic i nstructions.

Wishy may choose to provide more detail at a later date of his choosing. ;)
