Expanding menu problems

I'm using expanding menu on my site.

The problem is that when exploring though the menu (in expanding sections or in normal menu nodes) it seems to close previously expanded menu sections by itself, and I dont want this behaviour. I want to keep the once expanded menu section to remain open as long as user himself closes it. At the moment the menu even closes the expanded section when I click one of the child nodes in that section, which is highly annoying, because I have to reopen the section over and over again. Is there a way or modification for this particular expanding menu template, or should I try using an alternative? (which?)

Btw. after going through (clicking) all the expanded menu sections and child-nodes, the automatic closing on expanded sections stops(!) After a while, all sections stay open, but this is dependable on the pages that I have just visited. Those ones seem not to go automatically "hiding" in the menu. It seems to me like some sort of caching issue.
