The end for Flash?

Post by Deak »

Quick poll of the community's designers...

The incredible popularity of JavaScript libraries like jQuery has made it very easy for designers to create animations, interactive UIs, and Ajax allows for rich application design. HTML5 will have native video. Apple won't allow Flash on iPhones, iPods, and iPads. As a designer, do you think Flash's time is over?

As much as I hate to say it...I'm with Steve Jobs on this one.

There are several sites that I always have open during my day, and they all use flash, and they crash 5-10 times per day.  It's worse than windows ever was!  The sooner this crap goes away, the better.

I had to install Flash on my Mac a little while ago because a prospect's website used it. I installed ClickToFlash after that, so that I can selectively view Flash content.

Never had a crash related to Flash content, but it is a huge bandwidth sucker.
