My first time installing this CMS. The installation went smoothly. After the final step I clicked "continue" and I saw the first page of the site. The was just an error message saying:

And that's all I need to begin disliking this CMS. This might be a very uncommon bug, or a widespread-one. It might be a PHP bug, a My SQL or a CMS Made Simple bug, I don't know, I'm not really into PHP/xSQL. But I think this is why people dislike or come to dislike content management systems.

Anyway, if someone helps me, I might reconsider this CMS, because I saw the screenshots and I liked it. Too bad the installation went wrong :(

Make sure the permissions are set correctly on the tmp/templates_c and tmp/cache dirs.

The installer should be checking that on step 1, but I've seen this happen before.  Also, if it still doesn't work right, setting debug to true might give an indication of what is going on.

I had a very similar problem and it was due to a missing package on my system.
The GD Libraries seem to be nessesary for the CMS to work properly.
