[solved] Could not connect to the database - again

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] Could not connect to the database - again

Post by palun »

Forgive me, this has been asked before but the solutions suggested won't work for me (or I don't fully understand them).

I'm trying to install CMSMS 1.7.1 on Uniserver 5.6.5 (on WinXP) but fail at step 5. This is what I do:

1) I install Uniserver and start it as stand-alone (not as service). I also change the password for MySql-root.

2) Using phpadmin, I create an empty database for my CMSMS-app, and a corresponding user granted "ALL" on that database. (I double-checked the database and user privileges via the cmd-console.)

3) I download CMSMS 1.7.1 (full) and copy all files to a folder named "sompit" in Uniserver's www-folder.

4) I start the install sequence through "localhost/sompit" in browser

5) Installation runs fine until step 5, where I get the error "Could not connect to the database". This is in spite of all data entered being good (checked and double-checked)!

Anyone have any ideas on where I go wrong?

Many thanks!

Read their documentation to find out whether the mysql process is running, and with what configurations (username and password). Or switch to XAMPP instead, with which much more people will be able to help you with.

I did as suggested and switched to xampplite (1.7.3), and now everything seems to work just fine!

Thanks!
