Upgrading and moving/backup

Hi!
I've been checking out CMS Made Simple for a while now, and I must say it's the CMS solution that best fits my needs. But since I haven't found it available as a Fantastico auto-install object/project, I will have to maintain it manually, so I have two questions related to that:
1. Where should I read news daily to be informed security patches and stuff like that? (BugTraq?)
2. Upgrading, is that usually straight forward, backup and then unpack everything over the running installation an remove the install dir? Or is there some other procedure one should follow?

Moving/backup:
1. I have a running test site I would like to move to my production server, just dumping the tables from/to mysql and copying the files and adjusting ser ver and usernames i config.php should be enough?
Do I need to do anything in particular to bring my templates and stylesheets and stuff?
2. Is there a sample backup script out there somewhere?

1) I would not know myself. A low traffic mailinglist for such stuff would be welcome, but I don't know if it exist yet.
2) Yes usually it is as you describe. run the upgradescript and remove installdir.
3) probably.
4) no 'sample' scripts, but calguy posted his as an example lately.
