Joomla, drupal or something else
Re: Joomla, drupal or something else
Since this website is devoted to the content management system called CMS Made Simple, you probably won't get many recommendations for other systems, unless there is some very specific feature you MUST have, that is not supported by CMSms.

I had to choose once as well... And choose the SOMETHING ELSE...
Guess which one, check this site.

Re: Joomla, drupal or something else
Sounds like a 10-second decision process. When I chose CMSMS, I went thru about a hundred other CMSes. As in all of http://mkrd.info/reviews/simple-small-easy-lite-cms-portal/selection-criteria/rejected-content-management-systems.html. I remember one of those "list" websites, and me "new tabbing" hundreds of tabs in firefox of CMS listings, going to their websites, reading them, installing the CMS. Failing during install. Being a tiny package feature-wise. Not an experience necessary for any one else to take.
Re: Joomla, drupal or something else
I'm a .NET developer too, although I don't use it for my web design work because a Linux-based VPS is so easy and cheap. CMS Made Simple works great for me in this environment and is by far the most productive CMS software I've used. I've found that using smarty to customise page behaviour is quite easy to pick up - although I've had a lot of help from the community.karthikvs wrote:I am in a confused state of mind on whether to use Joomla, Drupal or something else for the site I am designing. I am not into both of these as I am a .NET developer myself. So can anybody tell me which one I should prefer over the other and for what all reasons? Or should I stick with .NET and try some CMS in .NET itself? Please help me out.
That said, if I was building a very sophisticated site I would use a .NET-based CMS, probably Telerik's SiteFinity (which is no longer free) or DotNetNuke. There are other good .NET CMS out there, but those two would be my choice. This preference for .NET has nothing to do with CMSMS, it's only a reflection of my own skills.
Re: Joomla, drupal or something else
Drupal is comparatively difficult to design for vs. CMS Made Simple and all modern content management systems are SEO friendly.mdraja wrote: you prefer for drupal because drupal is very easy to design.. and seo friendly
Re: Joomla, drupal or something else
Yeah... once CMSMS gets its own full-blown version of CCK (on roadmap now!), I don't think I'll need Drupal at all. Drupal DOES have tons of modules to choose, but it's really a crap shoot. Some of Drupal's modules are great and work out of the box, but many are poorly-maintained, buggy, and have a serious effect on performance. If you can, I'd definitely check out CMSMS. If you HAVE to choose between Drupal and Joomla... I think Drupal wins in every category except available themes.
