im trying to upload to my cPanel server and it seems to upload, but im unable to install
It comes up with the error:

Please correct by executing: chmod 777 or set writing permission for php process, exiting!

Re: PROBLEM please help Directory not writable!
Its only a few directories cmsms ask to set to 777. This is a general rule. But its not good for all web servers.
Its probably restrictions on what permissions you are allowed to set on the public write part.... I.e. 755 may be enough permission.
My best bet - Look in help of your hosting company.

It looks like a fileowner problem to me...
If you look into the cmsms filemanager, do you see "locks" on files and folders which have not the 777 rights?

me too - you normally also can see it at the file-owner. In my case the with ftp uploaded had "unknown" as file-owner. the right owner is the one of files which you have uploaded with the file-manager. If nothing works you can ask your provider to change the owner of the files. Mine did it within minutes (but I must say it's an excellent one)Rolf wrote: It looks like a fileowner problem to me...

You may want to check your unmask, site admin global settings > advanced tab...
