I have set up a website using the products module and CTL  cart module,  however I would like to be able to redirect from paypal to send a link for the download after payment.  - I have seen a similar CMS thread but that was not using the products module that I have already setup and am happy with - I am open to suggestions.

Try this idea:
each product should have URL for download in properties
you can setup confirmation e-mail, which will sent after paypal payment to customer. In this mail you can evaluate this product properties - URL for download

Sorry to but-in on your thread, but this is similar to something I've been looking to do. Can you expand a bit on what you mean, would this URL property be a hidden 'custom field' in Products? How is the value of this property passed to the email that's sent to the customer after payment?
