I need to allow users to select the proper template for a page.
To achieve this, i need to allow "Manage All content" in the group permissions.
When this is activated, users can modify and remove all pages by using the icons on the right hand side of the page overview.
Is there a way to allow users to select the page template without allowing them to "Manage All Content"?
Greetings,
Manuel

Re: group permissions - selecting templates
When "Manage All content" is disabled and "Modify Any Page" is activated, the "Content >> Pages" page overview shows the "Select templates" option in the drop down menu at the right hand bottom corner (normally all options for changing multiple pages at the same time are here).
The problem is that the user can't select any pages to apply the "Select templates" too...

Manuel

Re: group permissions - selecting templates
"Manage All Content" is like a superuser permission for content... they can do anything with all content...
the 'Modify Any Page' permission is a little wonky... I can't remember all the details for it, and it's gonna be disappearing soon.
But suffice it to say. If a user has the ability to edit a page, then they can change the template for that page one by one.
then they should also have the ability to multi-select those pages that they have access to and use the bulk set template option.
I hate that 'Modify Any Page' permission its so wonky.

Thanks for replying calguy! (big fan of your work here
)
The problem is that If a user has the ability to edit a page, they still can't choose the template because the "options" tab is not present.
This "options" tab only appears (to my knowledge) if the "Manage all content" permission is activated.
I've created some screenshots for your convenience:
the user permission settings for the editors group:
(EDIT: image has been removed)
A regular content page without the "options" tab (must be logged in as a user of the editors group)
(EDIT: image has been removed)
The option to change multiple pages is not present in the "content >> pages" overview (must be logged in as a user of the editors group)

Re: group permissions - selecting templates
There's a preference in global settings where you can specify what additional properties show up on the 'main' tab.
Add 'template' to the list and then the users will be able to choose a template.

Re: group permissions - selecting templates
Do you by any chance know of a way to allow user groups to move pages without having to activate "Manage All Content"?
