Search and News module questions

Post by Terabyte »

After long time of using cmsms, this is the first time I wanted to try out the News and Search modules. Unfortunately I run into problems/errors.

News:

How to I get SEO friendly links? I see no options or info in the module info. Is it standard or does it have to be tweaked in the code?

Search:

Adding {search} into the content works fine, but searching gives 500 error. I see in the admin background that statistics are updated at least. I have no clue where the 5000 error comes from.

Using: 1.7 version. Pretty links with ending .php .

More info = more help...

How are you doing pretty URLs, do you have hierarchy enabled?...

No, no hierarchy is used.

Code: Select all

$config['page_extension'] = '.php';
$config['use_hierarchy'] = false;

So I guess your point is that is hierarchy is set to true, News module will work?  ;)
Tested and news SEO links are working just fine.

I guess only the 500 error for the search is left ...

It is not clear enough, what you have already done. Post "/.htaccess", section "URL Settings" from "/config.php", link to your page and may be search result template to forum.

Thank you for trying to help me with this.

Although I decided today , after 4 years of using cmsms on 20 sites, to go and migrate all sites to Wordpress. Therefore more help on improving my current installations will not be neccessay.

Thank you anyway.
