That old cataloger missing image problem!

Post by acorn »

Try changing the permissions on all the images inside the uploads/images/catalog folder to 777.
This is the only fix that works for me.

Re: That old cataloger missing image problem! [solved for me]

My problem  -  images not showing on new install.  Caveat:   I did upgrade the CMSms to 1.7 prior to setting up Cataloger, so Cataloger may have been working prior to the upgrade.

Having attempted all fixes mentioned here  with mixed results and tainting the overall function of the Cataloger Module - a day of my life I will never get back.    ::)  -  I reverted to all the original files and reset the permissions on my domain to default.

Suddenly, everything was working perfectly.

So, my feelings are that the problem is Permissions Based.

I used the permissions that my server likes best (Folders 0755,  Files 0644) and all is well.

Yesterday I hated Cataloger, today I love it.

Yes, that old problem of no images...

The images disappeared after an upgrade of both CMSMS and Cataloger.  The cataloger module was upgraded via Module Manager.  The original version was uploaded via FTP from a development site.

Just guessing here cos I dont know Linux all that well, but I suspect that rather than just 'permissions', it's related to the original file owner.  Uploading the first version via FTP made the original file owner my ftp account.  Upgrading via Module Manager made the owner 'nobody' or 'systemuser' or whatever the host admin named the service.  I've experienced this conflict before upgrading stuff with Module Manager.

Solution was to download the entire Cataloger module from the website to my local PC and re-upload it via FTP using the same account credentials as the first install.  This overwrote the web version with my ftp account name as the original owner.

Suddenly everything works again!

Not saying this is the answer for everyone but it only takes a few minutes to try and saves having to hack the files or play around with file permissions trying to make it work.

Hope this helps
