Stripping out admin

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Stripping out admin

Post by billyjimbob »

Hi,

I'm creating a site for a friend who isn't the biggest fan of technology.  All she needs to do is change the content of the existing pages.  To avoid confusion I was going to strip out the layout, site admin user group, extension links on the admin panel so she can only see the links that she needs to use (content, site preferences).  Is there any easy way to do this?  Any suggestions?

I'm looking at the admin code and confused.

Thanks

Yes, when you create a user you can specify a new user group with limited functionality. There is a long list of checkmarks for things that you can turn off. Your friend will see a very small admin panel after the change.

You can create the user as an "editor" which will eliminate the "admin" and "designer" functions.

He can strip it down much further to just a few icons.
