Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Installation help on local Windows PC

Post by FirstWebsite »

Hello,

I would appreciate some help please. I am trying to install CMS on my local Windows PC and have got to the following step (after downloading all the most recent versions as currently recommended on your website):

Start the installation script:
We walk through the installation, based on version 1.4.1. Point your browser to http://localhost/cmsmadesimple.

When I click on the link, I am not taken to the Install System, but instead it seems to re-download the CMS file as it does in this earlier step:

Install CMS Made Simple
-->> Download CMS Made Simple from http://cmsmadesimple.org (look for the file with something like full.tar.gz in the name e.g. cmsmadesimple-1.4.1-full.tar.gz). "Full" package includes support for many languages. People only interested in English language will save space and time with the "base" package

Please let me know how I should proceed. Your help is very much appreciated.

Regards,

Mark

Not sure what you following... But this should be accurate to follow:
http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... Windows_PC
Just be sure each steps works before you proceed .

Reneh,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I am following the instructions here: http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... Windows_PC

but when I get to the Start the installation script section and I click on http://localhost/cmsmadesimple, I am not directed to the screen that says Install System (as shown in Installsystem.png) but instead a file called cmsmadesimple is downloaded by my browser and I don't know what to do with this downloaded file or how to get to the Install System page.

Anyway, I hope that is clear and I'd really appreciate some further guidance if possible.

Cheers,

Mark

If something is downloaded on that step - it is something totally wrong.
Did you really do the steps above (in "Install CMS Made Simple" step) - like extracting the downloaded packet and move to you server location?

I went to http://localhost/cmsmadesimple/admin and then deleted the "/admin" section and it is now working. Thanks for all your help.
