[solved] Status not showing for editors

Post by Omnicrash »

Hi, I have a problem I can't seem to get fixed, or find any information about.

The Editor user on my site seems to be able to make articles without any problem, however they automatically get saved as Drafts. The status field isn't showing on the page itself, and on the page with all the articles the header "Status" is shown, but the X or V isn't.

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this?

What module are you speaking of, News?

There is probably a settings tab in the admin panel that states the status of new articles.

There isn't, unfortunately. Even so, it wouldn't explain why Editors cannot publish or change the status of an article.
I've also already checked user permissions for Editor, but I can't seem to find any option that could be related to the problem at hand.

Ok, you need to give all of the information.

What version of CMS Made Simple is installed?

What MODULE are you having trouble with?

Is this a front-end editor, or a backend editor who cannot change the status of the article?

Most likely you installed an article but did not give Editors permissions to approve articles for that module.  You'll find permissions under Users & Groups -> Group Permissions

As I said previously, I've already checked permissions and cannot find anything that could be relevant.
If there is a certain permission related to being able to publish, please name it, then it probably is disabled.

The part I'm having trouble with is the News - I don't think the status property applies elsewhere?

I have CMSMS installed version 1.6.6 "Bonde". Aside from adding TinyMCE WYSIWYG, the default installation is all that's there.

And yes, the problem occurs in the backend. There are no frontend editors on my site.

In addition I've checked - The problem doesn't just occur for one user, but for all users that are in the Editor group.

Nevermind! After carefully reading through all the permissions, I found that "Approve News For Frontend Display" was not checked!

Checking that fully solved it.

Thanks for all the assistance!
