[solved] News module broke by update to 1.6.7

Post by Thomas S. »

Hi,

after updating CMSMS from 1.6.6 to 1.6.7, my front page shows

string(67) "Smarty error: unable to read resource: "module_db_tpl:News;summary""

instead of my news. I checked that all templates are still in place and cleared the cache, but that didn't help. I'm simply using "{news}" to call the news module.

I'm using
CMS 1.6.7
News 2.10.4
PHP 5.2.10
MySQL 4.0.23
Apache on Linux 2.6.25.20-25.1-default An i686

Let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks /Thomas

Thomas,

Could you check what happens when you create a new summary-template, and make that default.

Hi Ronny,

the user interface didn't offer an option to add a new summary-template - the only options were to save changes to the existing template and to revert it to its original settings (which I tried, but only got a message that said "deprecated").

I figured that something had gone wrong with the incremental updates that I've been using for years, so I deinstalled and reinstalled the news module. The user interface looks completely different now (among others, it suddenly allows me to use different templates), and it works again, but I had to restore my templates and news entries manually. Fortunately, I was at least wise enough to backup them.

Thanks for your help /Thomas
