Purpose of the news "Form template"

Hi folks,

I have cmsms 1.6.6 deployed with a custom theme and a modified 'news summary template'. When working the with this template, I noticed the 'Form template'. There is only one active form template named 'Sample'. What is the intended use for this Form template? I have searched the documentation and forum but there is no clear example.

My initial thought was that it defines the layout of the 'Add article' page; title, summary, content. But all attempted edits of the template have no affect on the layout. Am I doing something wrong or does the 'news form template' serve some other purpose?

This is for Frontend Users to add News articles, if you want that functionality on your site.

Thank you Nullig,

I'll have to try that feature. FEU news submission might be easier for the user than going in through the admin panel. And it will give me greater control over the News form layout.
