I prefer to run mysql to mysqli for CMSms. Leave default "Database Type" on 5th installation step ( as a result it is "$config['dbms'] = 'mysql';"  in "/config.php").

Also Calguy1000 wrote about issues related to php 5.2.10. Use php from 5.2.11 but lower than 5.3.
