How to create a template

Hi All,

I am very new to this CMS and just started to practice.

I want to create a template and insert into template repository in CMS.

Presently my newly designed  template file is a html file.
Now it resides outside CMS.

Can anyone help me how to make this available in CMS MS?

If my question is not clear enough, please let me know.

Thanks for your reply and time.
I have gained 'some' knowledge but still struggling to get what I want.

Please see the attached image.
I want to develop a "Layout" like this. It has different number of columns across rows.

You might want to take some time and look at how the default templates were made. The default content explains how to create and manage a site pretty well. Look at the templates in the admin panel to see how the content is separated from the layout. Learn the basics of Smarty ( http://smarty.net ) to understand how templating works.
