Checking for GD library

I am getting this message when I am installing version. 1.6.5

"The GD library is mandatory for some modules and functionality."

My server information:

PHP version 4.4.7
System Information 
Server Software  Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.4.7 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.7a 
Server API  apache 
Server Operating System  Linux 2.6.9-55.0.2.ELsmp On i686

Well IIRC the GD lib is in the php 5+ ... plus you'll want to switch to that anyways... if it's not, there is alot if info out there on installing the GD lib ... it's pretty straight forward.  Hope this helps.. Cheers -Jeremy

is there an older version of CMSMadesimple that I can use that would work on what I have?

um.. the GD library  is not a CMSMS thing.. it's a php extension... that is something you have to take up with your host...
