Problem disabling base-tag to manipulate statusbar-address...

Post by Mats Helge »

Hi all,

before I get cruched for "posting a similar thread" I'd like to state that I have browsed through the forums and tried almost everything but it hasn't helped in my case, so bare with me, please:

I have two domains, the other one is with a hosting service (a few hundred megabytes). I have built a website with cmsms for both domains on this hosting space (on separate root-folders).

www.domain1.com/domain1
and
www.domain1.com/domain2

I have successfully added the second domain as an "addon-domain" for the server but when I go to the site and move my mouse over the links status bar always shows the full path (www.domain1.com/domain2/...) and this is not acceptable. I got some guidance from my server administrator that said that the address is shown in full because there is a "base-tag" active on my site.

So here comes the obvious question: How can I disable the base-tag and what kind of trouble do I get my self into if I do?

As far as I understand at this point (after reading the forums about base-tag) it is possible to turn off firstly by modifying the "use hierarchy" part from config.php to false and then adding "{metadata showbase="false"}" to my templates. This should work, right? Well it doesn't. I dont see any difference anywhere when I do this modification.

So please give some tips if you can!

Thanks,

Mats
