Hey guys,
(I'm gonna pass on the whole "Hello I'm new here" and the "I love CMS Made Simple" stuff as that's both obvious ;-)
I'm using CMS Scarborough/0.11.2 [2005-12-05 20:52:48] with the gastbuch module that identifies itself as "version 0.6" in the admin panel (although line 31 of gastbuch.module.php still says
"*@version 0.5 23/09/2005 14:3").
I have impletented the gastbuch as a seperate page with no parent and with content type "Guestbook", 1200 postable characters and "[x] show message right now". I have one admin user that has the rights to modify guestbook entries - so, if I add some content in the gastbuch section of the admin panel, the entry shows up on the page.
If a visitor klicks on "New Guestbook Entry", he sees the fields where he can type text into, but after clicking on "Insert", the next page tells him that "Your Message was insert" but underneath still the old number of posts is showing and the text is nowhere to be seen - the message obviously was _not_ inserted.
On the other hand - if I'm logged in in one browser tab as admin to the admin panel, I can add guestbook entries. (Is the authentification check somehow IP based?)
I found a similar problem in an older forum post of pishkus - http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 825.0.html - but the solution there didn't work out for me as I guess I'm already using a later version - so sorry if this question is looking very familiar ;-)
Thanks for any suggestions, if you need further info don't hesitate to ask!
Greetings,
Puempel
PS: Excuse my sometimes screwed up English - I'm not a native speaker and even less a native writer...
gastbuch module - not visitor writable
Re: gastbuch module - not visitor writable
Don't know if I'm right but gastbuch is a moderated guestbook - please check your admin

Re: gastbuch module - not visitor writable
Did I totally misunderstand the description on the module homepage (http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/softwarema ... rm_cat=318) that "[...] the Gastbuchmodul(Guestbook) would [...] give Visitors the ability to leave a massage[sic!][...]" and, if I don't chose to first check every entry if it's adequate by configuring it not to "[x] show message right now" those messages should be displayed immediately? (nice and twisted sentence, I agree :-)
Plus - I think I have seen some linked CMS-made-simple-based homepages in the forum where the gastbuch module was used and it's "world writable"!

Re: gastbuch module - not visitor writable
Hm, I'm having the same problem - did you manage to find a solution?
It's kinda weird to me that this problem has not been solved yet - this modules seems pretty worthless when not writeable to the regular users...
Greetings, Petter
