Hi
I have moved across a site to it's live site howver I am having problem with cache directory
Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $cache_dir '/home/life/public_html/smarty/cms/cache'. Be sure $cache_dir is writable by the web server user. in /home/life/public_html/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088
If I change directory to 777 it works fine but under my test domain it was working correctly under 755.
I prefer not to run 777 but I see no option but it SHOUL work under 755 as it did before.
Ideas?
Cheers
Chris

You can make it 755 if you change the owner of the directory to the same user as the apache process is running under... if you can't change ownership, then you're stuck with 777.

The only reason I could see 777 being scary is if you're on a shared server with other users. From an external security aspect, both have about the same implications...

I have posted a couple of replies but I never see them appear for some reason. Glitch on forum?
Let's see if this goes through.
I wonder if you could go into the admin of the site to see a glitch I am having - must be related to a directory thing I think.
If okay where do i send the admin access details?
Easier i thought and quicker for you if you had a quick look.
Cheers

I probably won't get to check it out until tomorrow morning (7 hrs from now), though. Just about to head to bed.

Also, if you could either jump on IRC or send over some kind of IM nick, it would probably make life easier for both of us.
Thanks!
