[RESOLVED] move content from cmsms 104 to 166

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[RESOLVED] move content from cmsms 104 to 166

Post by voxberry »

Hello .

I have an old project with cmsms 1.0.4 and I have a lot of content as in pages, like more then 800 pages.

Now I want to remake that project into cmsms 1.6.6 and I wanna move all the pages from the old cms to the new one .

what is the best way to do this ?!?

thanks for helping :)

Hi voxberry

I have never done it myself, but you could try to install a new 1.6.6 release based on the excisting database.
But create a working backup of your files and database first. You can have some trail and error now.  ;)

Remove all files from the server, and upload release 1.6.6
Do an .../install but don't let it create tables and default content. Your database will be overwritten!
Upload your own images, etc. again.

You have to do some changing on templates etc. but your site should be working again now.

Regards, Rolf

well I just did that and that does not really work .the frontpage as the admin panel load forever and ever .

however, i'm migrating only the content tables, about 4, into the new database .
this seems to work so far .

thanks anyway :)

Are you trying to duplicate this site?...

Are you sure your not just trying to upgrade it, like upload 1.6.6 and run install/upgrade.php?...
