TinyMCE Problem with the toolbar revisited...

Post by Mats Helge »

Hi all!

I'm having plenty of trouble with the TinyMCE wysiwyg that seems to break down on many of my pages. The problem and one solution have been posted here before, but the solution doesn't seem to work for me.

Here is the solution:
http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... he_Toolbar

So the problem is that after some time of editing my pages the toolbar seems to vanish and only the checkbox "use wysiwyg" remains without effect. I havent been able to locate the reason for the wysiwyg to disappear and now I would appreciate some help to find out a new solution.

I tried to install SPAWeditor which just prints an error message ""You don't install Spaw inside SPAWeditor module. Look on help for instructions" and in the instructions there is nothing about this.

I tried to install HTMLArea-wysiwyg but it doesnt seem to do anything else than make the "use wysiwyg"-checkbox disappear.

I would need to get some wysiwyg to work so my customer can update the pages with wysiwyg.

I'm running CMSMS 1.6.6 "Bonde"

Cheers for any help in advance!

Welcome to the forum, Mats

Have you tried the actions in the TinyMCE Module Help page yet?
TinyMCE Module Help wrote: Troubleshooting
Some people have trouble with tiny not showing up upon installation or upgrading. Here is a checklist of things you can try before contacting me for further support.

    * 1. Please, please, try to reupload the modules/TinyMCE dir to your server. You'd be amazed how many times this has helped people.
    * 2. Try to switch on the Static Config option. Note that this requires your /tmp/-dir to be writable by the webserver
    * 3. If upgrading, please try to reset all settings. Not nice if you've done a lot of customization, I know, but a lot of things changes from 2.3.x to 2.4.x series of the module.
    * 4. Try enabling the static config option in advanced settings. This works better on some systems (like CGI-based)

Thanks Rolf, but unfortunately there was no help from your guidance yet.

- I uploaded the TinyMCE-module folder entirely to the server but no change

- I checked the Static Config checkbox, but no change

Any other advice?

Cheers!

Hi Matse,

The account was still on Finnish, and the only Finnish I know is Jarno Saarinen and Turku  ::)
But I know my way around the admin  ;)

It was simple, just resetting to the default values in the TinyMCE Advanced tab.

Have fun with CMSMS

Rolf  :)

This has been post/talked about so many times it's not even funny and is documented in release notes, PLEASE search forum before adding another post about a known entity...

Thank you very much Rolf and I do apologise for re-posting a "known-issue". Browsing the forum and the FAQ etc is not so easy with some specific problem when you don't speak english as your main language.

By the way, do you have any idea what causes the TineMCE values to change without me even touching them?

Again I thank you very much for quickly taking care of my problem!

Release notes during upgrading, and in install folder to read......

7) TinyMCE

TinyMCE has had some serious enhancements as well.  However, those enhancements make it so that on an upgrade you may not see the TinyMCE editor in your content pages, or various frontend forms.  To resolve this problem, you may need to uninstall the TinyMCE module (in Extensions >> Modules) and re-install it, then reset the settings...

(reset the settings) Reset all defaults in advanced tab of tiny admin...

I did, sorry for not mentioning that before.

There is no TinyMCE javascript files call in admin template - if that's something new to you.

Greetings

I have the same problem: no TinyMCE function after upgrading CMSMS to 1.6.6. I've tried all the solutions suggested in this thread and others, and upgraded TinyMCE to 2.6.1.1 (by ftp and then by XML). I'd appreciate any help.

Rolf, I will send you a temporary username and password for admin access to my site, as you suggested others do, hoping that you can check it out for me.

@Tonyrap,
I looked into your admin, but TinyMCE is working fine for me...
