Okay.... result: register_globals is switched off.
PHP_Errorlog didn't show any errors.
I managed to upload and delete my avatar, but other than that, still no file worked.

This one beats me...

Problem solved. I have no idea how, but upload does work again... Thanks for your help, alltogether - especially Rolf...
