My daughter is completing her degree in Computer Graphic Design and at my suggestion chose to use CMSMadeSimple to learn what a CMS does and how to use it. She is a designer and so approached her sites from the opposite direction that I have done. She had not had any previous experience with any CMS and was productive quite quickly.
http://www.elkanah.org.nz - A site for a NZ Christian musician, Jules Riding ( a friend of the family ) Whilst this site was originally designed by my daughter it has subsequently been taken over by someone else and that person has 'done their own thing' with it. A little disappointing but that is the reality of web design.
http://www.sanctuary.geek.nz - One of Bethani's course projects.
http://www.beustacedesign.co.nz - My daughter's online CV.

You may want to run them trough a validator...

I'm sure if that's what she could do as a debutant, then she's going to turning out great stuff in years to come. Really, she's good.
In validation terms the CSS is just about there, really, not much left do. Sure, the HTML / (X)HTML needs a little work. I think she's ahead of the crowd anyhow.
