[solved] How to omit default content when doing local install on PC

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] How to omit default content when doing local install on PC

Post by arcms »

Having successfully installed CMSMS 1.6.6 on my Windows PC running against Apache, using the file
cmsmadesimple-1.6.6-full.tar.gz
and following the instructions on this page
http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/User_Handbook/Installation/Quick_Install/Install_on_Local_Windows_PC
I've been learning about CMSMS using the helpful info provided in the default pages.

I'm now trying to figure out how I could have done a local install on my PC without the default content. At no point in the installation process described in the link did I have a choice about whether to install the default pages or not. I've tried searching this forum for info about omitting default content but not found anything.

Is there an alternative install method I could use that would omit the default content? Obviously, I could go through the Admin panel and manually delete the pages provided, but I would prefer to know how to start without them if possible.

Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Alan

Oh, really?  You might want to run the installer again and read each step closely...

Cheat: on the database step, there is a checkbox "install default content". Although I see no point. Since this includes default templates, and example pages, they can be just deleted, and default template reused for test pages before you get your own going.
