[SOLVED] CMSMS website built by contractor, how to install on my server?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[SOLVED] CMSMS website built by contractor, how to install on my server?

Post by corn4th »

We paid a contractor to design a new website for us, and the completed project is a huge ZIP file I have saved on my computer. He told me instructions were on the CMS website for how to get it to work on my server, but the only instructions I found tell me to modify the config.php file with paths and names, etc. Help! I have no idea what I am doing and have been unable to figure out what to do next. I do have GoDaddy shared Linux hosting. Could someone please tell me, step-by-step, how to move the stuff I have saved on my computer to the server and get it to run? Thanks!

I have no idea what is contained in the ZIP file.  Hopefully he zipped up all of the CMSMS directories and files, along with a dump of your database, since that's where essentially everything is stored.

If this is the case, then you need to copy all of the CMSMS files to the root of your web server, keeping the same directory structure that he provided for you.  Then restore your database using a tool like phpMyAdmin, and you're up and running.

Feel free to send me a PM if you would like help with this.  It should not be a major ordeal if your contractor did his job well.
