Site down Parse error from 1.6.4 to 1.6.6

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Site down Parse error from 1.6.4 to 1.6.6

Post by paladin54 »

So I tried to upgrade from 1.6.4 to 1.6.6  I uploaded everything and now I get a parse error when I go to visit my site:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /homepages/18/d193853868/htdocs/index.php on line 93

And when I go to the admin site I get:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /homepages/18/d193853868/htdocs/lib/misc.functions.php on line 78

AFAIK everything uploaded fine.

There is no install/upgrade.php and there was none with the files that came with the 1.6.4 to 1.6.6 diff base package I downloaded

In diff package no but for upgrade process is required.
Upload install folder from your package (1.6.4 or 1.6.6)

In wiki I add info of re-add install folder

OK, uploaded the entire install folder from  cmsmadesimple-1.6.6-base.tar.gz  tried to run the upgrade.php and all I got was this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /homepages/18/d193853868/htdocs/lib/misc.functions.php on line 78

I also tried to do just the 1.6.4 to 1.6.5 and then the 1.6.5 to 1.6.6 and still nothing

You have some files broken.
Re-upload diff or full package and check your installation in step 1

Not sure if it helps, but I run into some 'weird' upgrade stuff a few days ago, with error stating "you cannot overload function lang()" at the 2nd page of the upload process. After some struggle it turned out (If I remember well) that the problem was caused by doing the upload using the (ftp) transfer type 'auto' (which is supposed to be the normal thing to do). Once I set the transfer type to binary and re-upload everything (for the 3rd or 4th time) everything went smooth.

I was using Filezilla 3.x under ubuntu 9.04

Something bad has happened, not sure what.

I tried to upload a Wordpress blog to another directory and I get a Parse Error when ?I" try and run the install php file.  Nothing seems to work right now and my host provider is looking into it.
