Long time user of CMSms, 100+ sites. 2 servers. Never an issue till the latest release.
I can no longer get the install to run.
error i am receiving after i choose my language on the install:
address: ~gosite/install/index.php?sessiontest=1
error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '(', expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or '{' or '$' in /home/gosite/public_html/modules/News/News.module.php on line 685
any thoughts? I have re-uploaded the files 3 times.

Re: fatal errors on modules
When I see those kinds of errors, I immediately think corrupted file uploads. Forum user REPLYTOMK3 has a nice article on his web site about installing and upgrading CMSMS:

I recommend nuking the existing folders so that you are assured of fresh uploads of the core CMSMS files. Those folders would include /admin, /lib, /plugins, /tmp and the *.php files in the root EXCEPT config.php. Also don't delete your robots.txt, favicon.ico or .htaccess files if they exist.
HTH.
