those replies were probably halted by akismet. After approval they were showing.

Mmmm okay, but what's the purpose of that, and why wasn't the second post held back? That seems random.
I could see the reply when I wanted to answer. (Then I saw the lengthy reply and thought it was 'solved').

akismet filters posts, f.e. because of links given in a post. That might have been the thing here...
