Customize cmsms

Post by dmaireroa »

Hi there

Are we able to customize cmsms to make it the way I want it to look in the login page and admin panel? If so, how would I do this?
I have a client and want to add only relevant fields and their logo on the cmsms, is this possible or am I breaking the guideline rules here?

Many thanks in advance
CHEERS :)

You can change whatever you want as long as you leave the copyright comments alone.

Be warned we don't support any modifications done to code files.

Look in admin/themes for the admin panel styles/templates. I haven't done any work with them so that is as much help as I can offer.

Thanks for your reply jeff, you have helped a lot here.

So the only thing I don't touch is this, which is located on the 'login page'
© CMS Made Simple
Is free software released under the General Public Licence.
And this one on the footer 'admin panel'
CMS Made Simple 1.6.2 "Noumea"
CMS Made Simple is free software released under the General Public Licence.
Is this correct?? What about the header in the admin panel, there is no copyright symbol?
CMS Made Simple Admin Console - (title name)
Welcome: (username)
Is there anyway to pay cmsms to remove the copyright or is this a no no?
Otherwise, I will have to build my own cms....na just kidding hehe  ;D

I guess I'll have to convince my client to leave the copyright...actually, I will force them to leave it  ;D

yes.  There is also a commercial license available if you REALLY need to remove the copyright info.

www.cmsmadesimple.org/support/commercial-license/

Also be aware that some modules (I'm thinking of Calguy's, off the top of my head - there may be others) have their own specific licensing requirements, and you may not be allowed to use certain modules if you are removing CMSMS references, etc.

For example, all of Calguy's modules include the following license requirement:
However, as a special exception to the GPL, this software is distributed as an addon module to CMS Made Simple. You may not use this software in any Non GPL version of CMS Made simple, or in any version of CMS Made simple that does not indicate clearly and obviously in its admin section that the site was built with CMS Made simple.

Calguy builds a lot of great mods that are, fortunately or unfortunately, in some cases nearly essential to running a full-featured site.  So, to legally use those mods, you have to leave some kind of "built by CMS Made Simple" reference in the admin panel.  If you don't want this restriction, you can write your own mod or pay someone to write it for you, and license it as you wish.

We could probably get hung up for a long time on what "clearly and obviously" means, but that's a topic for another day...

COol! Jeff showed me where the copyright info in the header is, I just wanted to make sure I can remove this info, so I can customize to my client's design.

If you do that, and completely remove all reference to CMS Made Simple from the admin console be sure you are not using ANY of my moduloes.
