Site down after hacking...

I'm from Denmark, which can be hard these days with Muhammed-drawings and all...but I get by!

Over the last couple of months, I've been working on designing a website for a band and I've been working hard. But over the weekend, some Saudi Arabian hacker found it necessary to punish me for being from Denmark and hacked my site.

Being a work in progress, I hadn't deleted the install folder - yes, stupid! So it looks like he made a clean install ontop of the mine. I have restores my database from backups and it looks fine, but I still can't access my site.

It keeps redirecting me to install.php, when I was going for index.php. None of my pages work, so I suppose I'll need to edit some files the server. Can anybody please tell me which pages I must change and what to change?

I'd really appreciate it - and take it as a sign of good faith across the nations!

If I understand correctly, the config.php file must be present and above a certain size or else you will be redirected. The install.php script will try to write a new one, so your hacker might have overwritten it.
How did he get your db user+password? guessing?

Yes, jelle is correct on this one.  A new config.php file should solve the problem.  One thing you can do to get it back is run through the installer, but turn off the check box that says to delete your tables.
