MySQL problems while installing

Post by Dramatic »

Hi,
I just scrapped Joomla for a school site I have under construction (The school's ancient computers have MSIE6-SP0, which doesn't seem to support a lot of the javascript used in admin - little things like save buttons missing)

Anyway, I deleted all the Joomla files and dropped the tables from the database, then started installing CMSMS 1.6.4. Installation went like clockwork until step 6, where the installer connects to the database ok (verifiable by using a different pw and ggetting a connect error), but the creation of each table fails. I've checked that the user has create privileges, and have restarted mySQLd. I've installed CMSMS plenty of times on this server for other sites. Any ideas what I need to kick?

We don't support IE6 for the admin either.

We have asked for the OS (XP) to be upgraded with service packs so that Chrome can be installed (and IE7). But I understand that both the firewall on the intranet gateway and on the external proxy would have to be adjusted to let other browsers out. (I discovered the proxy today when I couldn't use the hosts file to access the site (DNS hasn't changed yet)).
