CMSMS site going down

Post by jonaskhn »

Hi guys

After uploading some files my site suddently went dead on me!

Im running version 1.6.3.

When I access "www.mywebsite.com" it says:

There is no config.php file or install/index.php please correct one these errors!

And when I try to re-login to "www.mywebsite.com/admin" it gives me:

Database Connection Failed
Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/usr/local/mysql-5.0/data/mysql.sock' (2) (2002)
Function Performed: CONNECT
Host/DB: localhost/cms
Database Type: mysql

I tried recreating an empty config.php in the root of the site through my hosting panel, but it doesn't help.
What went wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kind Regards,
Jonas

It's clearly lost the DB information.
Not sure what could have happened, but you could try recreating the config file, with the relevant info, on your PC, then FTP it across.

Creating an empty config file isn't going to do you any good if there's no data in it.

What you'd need to do is create the empty config, re-upload the install directory and then re-run the setup process(yourdomain.com/install.php) to recreate your config file.

That's all the setup is actually doing anyway, so you don't need to worry about losing your modules, files or directories but as always, backup before you begin.

Do you have a backup of your site's files? If you do then you could just FTP up your backed up config.php file and save having to run through the setup again.

Hello,

was the front end running OK after install ? and the admin too ?
And then no more config.php ????
This is scaring. Such a file should not disappear without action from you and your hosting password. Please talk with your hosting provider, review logs, investigate for a crack...

Yes, I am still waiting for an answer as to what went wrong! It is terribly scaring seeing your data disappear like that!

Unfortunately, after re-installing CMSMS after uploading and running the install script, all my PAGES seems to have disappeared. The only thing left seems to be the text embellisher styles, hehe. I assume the pages are all saved in the MySQL db?

What kind of files did you upload?

Did you try upgrading to 1.6.4 and re-running the install script, but not having it create tables, just inputting the existing db information?

Basically, I just ran the script the same way as when I installed CMSMS the first time. So I guess it has recreated the tables, overwriting the existing db information? Ouch

Seems a very bad hosting provider (not a CMSms issue). A good one would have already responded, answered and refunded.
