Install Just Spins

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Install Just Spins

Post by jebock »

This is a strange one.

I installed a second install of CMSMS for a second web site on our server. It seemed to install fine. I got the admin page and the startup page.

I deleted the install directory and headed to the e-mail setting. Fiddled with them for a bit and tried a test e-mail. Nothing. Firefox just spins.

Now, I can't get to the public side or the admin side. Everything just spins and spins. Never get an error, just spinning waiting for pages to load.

My other site, which was already up and running is fine, so mySQL and PHP are running as expected.

The original install is 1.5.4 and I was upgrading to the latest version for this new web site before upgrading the existing site.

Any thought?

Jason

And now it's magically back up. Any thoughts as to what might have happened?

And it's called loading, not spinning.

Thanks. I'm well aware of the underlying process. I have used spinning to describe the movement of the icon many times which is what occurs when the page loads, or in my case, does not load. I am also quite certain that a vast majority of folks that read this forum understood what I meant. Good grief, that was helpful.

The install is a LAMP install on SUSE build: Linux 2.6.18.8-0.10

PhP  5.2.6
mySQL 5.0.26
Apache 2.2.3

All appears fine now, so it's not something I can recreate. I'm just curious if anyone had experienced anything like it before.

I've never had a local page spin attempt to load before and never load without an error coming up. The server was running fine as far as I can tell. Our other site and other server functions were fine the entire time.

Did you check the error logs?

Bet not.
