File structure and files when upgrading

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

I've done that on a number of occassions without any issues.

As always though, backup EVERYTHING before you start: your old files and your database. Clear your site cache before you start too to reduce the number of files you need to backup/copy.

Remember that the core install won't contain any additional modules you installed, so you'd need to copy their files across. Also you mention the images folder, but it's the whole uploads directory really that needs copying if, like me, you have a lot of other things in there like files, galleries etc.

Remember too that uploading new folders will mean you lose any permissions/CHMOD customizations you did, so you'd need to reset them as per the installation instructions.

I agree on backup everything. Yes this includes /uploads.

Please read also my opinion on "recovering from an exploit" :

(short version : after everything is backuped, ERASE everything, DESTROY the hosting context, start with a new sane one)
