Great css menu generator

Post by Badyl »

Hello i've found a great css menu generator.

http://www.opencube.com/

It's generate - css, js and ul/li - i've tested with CMS MS - it's work great with menu manager.

Unfortunatelly it's paid :( the licence cost quite a lot

Free version display warning message in IE but it's very internesing.

Hi,

I use opencube quickmenu and it is fantastic.  Any advice on how you installed it for use with cmsms?

Thanks

This is not something you install in cmsms it is stand alone...

Most likely they would build the menu in that program and copy/paste it into the template, which if you ask me is wasting the power of cmsms, one of the main reasons I went with a cms was for the dynamic menu generation, add a page and it shows on all pages...

I'm very sure there isn't anything that menu thing can do that can't be done in menu manager...

I have to agree with Mark - the CMS will do all of these things. There may be value, however, in the menu styling, especially if it's something you're not comfortable with. For the price, however, I couldn't recommend it - there are tons of free menus styles available out there to draw from. Not to mention that their demos leave all the code exposed - I'm guessing that they're after the market that doesn't use a CMS and need something to generate the menus.

I'm not overly impressed with the menus that OpenCube can create (from their examples on the site), it's certainly not something I would ever hand over money for. You would be better served learning how to style HTML lists into menus yourself. If you're in a hurry, then there are plenty of free menu makers out there.

As an aside, I personally think some of OpenCube's menus are stupid. A tab style menu with drop-downs?! :)

Well, the world would be boring if we all agreed on design wouldn't it? :) Whilst I think the above menu looks professional (no question), it's the "tabs as drop-downs" concept that I'm not a fan of. It seems like a conflation of two different navigation techniques and -- for me -- it doesn't work conceptually.

I don't like drop-down navigation on websites in any form, so drop-downs + tabs was never going to win me over!
