Upgrade does not install 1.6 themes and admin pages

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Upgrade does not install 1.6 themes and admin pages

Post by drew »

Well, its time to upgrade our church site from 1.2.3 to 1.6. I especially like the new admin backend and the new default themes - wil serve nicely as a base for site redesign. The admin pages also provide expanded features over those offered by 1.2.3

When using the recommended upgrade method (copy over the base tarball and run install/upgrade), everything runs and completes without problems. Admin page shows 1.6 "New Caledonia"

My expectation was that the new 1.6 themes would be installed. But the admin theme and layout is unchanged. The theme manager does not show any of the 1.6 themes.

Is there some special method to install these during an upgrade?

Thank you, Drew

Admin theme you pick for each user in their admin account settings.

The frontend default themes don't get installed on upgrades since we don't overwrite old themes - its made like this so nobody comes and tell their previouse themes is deleted.
The new frontend themes you can get if you export them from a freshinstall. .... or later they will be added the themes.cmsmadesimple.org site....

Thank you for replying.

I will export new themes from a fresh install as suggested, and will rename them to avoid conflict original CMSMS themes.

Will also look at backend preferences to see if the new admin theme is present. If it isn't, is there some way to import it? I don't recall if the theme manager can do this.

One other thing missing after the upgrade was all the "new" 1.6 admin controls. I'm unfamiliar with the architecture of the admin backend, but suspect that enabling the new admin theme will not display the new controls.

The admin theme is only the look of the site and should be available after upgrade, look in site admin for it and user preferences for it also...

The new core functionality is one of the reasons for upgrading so you should have them as well...
