Assigning Categories to Articles in the Articles Module.

Post by JRSofty »

I can't see where to set the category in the article that I wish to write.

Installed the Articles module and all of its dependencies (ModuleXtender which also requires AjaxMadeSimple). I opened the ModuleXtender and activated the Articles module in its list of modules. I then went to the categories tab and created several categories. Next I went to the relations tab and selected the Articles module and then added the categories that I created. I then went to the articles module and added a new article. The problem is how do I assign the article to one of the categories. I'm not seeing this anywhere?

I haven't used the articles module but you may be better off using the News module as it is continually updated and supported being a core module. It also supports categories.

I would rather use the News module for minor news updates, however, if I don't get a response (which seems likely since this module technically doesn't support CMSMS 1.5.4) then I might actually look into your suggestion.

Dear JRSofty,

The Article module is a little bit deprecated. You could try to use the PolyXtend who require to modify a little bunch of code (documented) into the PolyXtend.class.php file.

About the categories, you should:

1. Create the category and options into the ModuleXtender (the version 0.1.5 will be published soon and have a lot of improvements)
2. Assign a relation between Articles and the category into the module Xtender
3. Your categories is now accessible into the Articles module

The rest of the Article module is not well documented (my bad)...

PS: You should contact me by email rather than on the forum...
