My site has completely vanished!

Post by pauline_hill »

Please help.

I've just installed CMSMS and it was running perfectly, but within the last half hour or so my site completely disappeared. At the time it disappeared I had changed my login details, signed out, signed back in using the new details, then attempted to change them back to the old details. I think I had changed it back to the old details, but I can't be sure as everything on the screen then went white. The source code is completely empty.

Did I break something? Does anyone know what happened? Sorry I'm not more precise in outlining my problem, but I really have no clue what's happened.

Our database is still intact and everything should be there...

The site is www.newcustomers.com.au

Please help (why do these things always happen at 5pm on Friday!?)

Thanks,
Pauline. :-[

(edit: I just wanted to add that /admin also takes you to a blank page, so I can't get into any settings to change their configuration...)

Hi,

I'm not sure what is causing your problem, but I had something similar happen recently on a site that I'm still developing -- blank pages.  I was able to figure out the problem by temporarily turning on debug mode, in config.php, and then refreshing the page.  CMSMS displayed an  error message telling me the file and line number of the problem.  In my case, I think it was a simple typo (e.g. mismatched quotes).

Code: Select all

     $config['debug'] = true;
Hope this helps,
Fred

Thanks for replying Fred. The problem seems to have come good all on its own (which is a huge relief!) so while I'm not sure what went wrong, I'll just presume that the good 'ol turn it off and on again and count to 100 worked. Although in this case I left it for about a day.

I think I will turn on debug mode, though, so thanks for suggesting it.

Cheers,
Pauline.

Hello,

from your report it it seems your hosting provider could explain the (non-CMSms) issue.
