[Solved] CMS Made Simply incredibly slow

Post by desco »

When editing pages in the admin panel including login take up to 30 secs plus to load.   Once the site is created pages render quickly but the admin panel is slow no matter what.  Sometimes up to a min to load each page after clicking a link.

I've tried other PHP and MYSQL apps on this machine and they perform great.   I can't create the slow down I experience with CMSMadeSimple with any other app on this server.  Same DB.

PHP Version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.5, Apache fully patched.

I've gone over every single setting I can find on this site to verify it's in line with the recommendations.

This is the only site on the server.

This is the only database on the server.

Load is way less than 50% on CPU, RAM, DISK, etc.  They are all extremely fast and current hardware.

I'm lost and don't know where to look now.  Any advice?

Try disabling or making inactive modules you don't use or don't use often like:
ThemeManager
ModuleManager
nuSOAP
Take a penny, leave a penny.

Good thought but I followed your advise and disabled just about everything.  No luck.

Still slow and it took FOREVER to uninstall all of those....

Is this a local install? If so, it may be a local firewall/router issue. You can try disabling the check for new CMSMS versions by going to the Global Setting/Advanced Setup tab and type the word "none" (without the quotation marks) into the "Check for new CMS versions using this URL:" field.

Nullig for the win!

Is this making a check everytime a page is loaded?  Odd I didn't see the rejections on the firewall and I checked.  Perhaps I just missed them.

Regardless it worked fantastically!

Thanks so much!
