how to show content pages like a news

How to show content pages preview like a news ?
I mean to show summaries of the content in one page like the left column at http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/

I think you've answered your own question dude, use the news module.

So you would create an appropriate template with a column on the left. Inside that column you'd place the {news} tag with whichever additional parameters you need.

Then your main {content} block will be replaced by whichever story someone clicks on in the left column.

I'm not sure but I think the OP had something else in mind (and I'd be interested in an answer to that question as well):
Is it possible to have normal content pages automatically listed as news. In his example link, the album reviews are normal pages in a hierarchy that can be linked from anywhere but are additionally listed with their creation date in the news column.
Is this somehow possible with CMSms?

Seems to me that you are looking for something like the plugin content_dump.

Extract the content block of your choice(i.e. from newly created pages or page you want) and display a summary and link or whatever you want. It's an extremely versatile plugin with excellent documentation.

Take a look at it.
