Customizing search

Post by user101 »

Hi,

I want to create a website that allows users to search data on specific fields from the database and display it.

I have installed CMS made simple but am getting a simple search button. Even if i can use the Advanced Search, i will have to customize it
How can i do it?

Can anyone help please.

The Search module doesn't have any advanced search functionality.  It would require custom programming in order to create.

Hi Ted,

After upgrading to 1.5.4 I noticed search doesn't give results on pages other than the homepage. Even when giving a resultpage value.

Robbedoes,

the resultpage-parameter is only there to push the results to that specific page... It doesnt change the effect of the results showing. Could you check if the page of which you expect results, has the tick "this page is searchable" set. Also perform a re-index, under Extensions -> Search.

Hi Ronny,

This is for pages other than the homepage.

Even when I use no extra params, the results are not shown, just the page on which the searchform is submitted.
There is another topic [1] about this ‘bug’.
