Upgrade process 1.5.1 - 1.5.4 - install.php? [Solved]

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Upgrade process 1.5.1 - 1.5.4 - install.php? [Solved]

Post by sponna »

Hello,

I just upgraded 3 sites from 1.5.1 -> 1.5.4. However, I just over wrote files rather than ran the install script - this was because I couldn't find it even though in a couple of the diff packages the "install" directory and some sql appeared? Have I done the updates correctly or was there a db update that should also have been done please? All seems to be working ok.

This package is great but if anything could be improved its the update instructions please - just a simple "this one needs you to run the upgrade file" or "just overwrite files - no db update needed" or similar would be cool. Apologies if those instructions are there and I'm looking in the wrong place.

Anyway, if someone can confirm that my simple file over-writing was ok, that would be great.

Many thanks,
Dave

1.5.1 -> 1.5.4 have changed files only.
However (unless you use diff) install/upgrade.php is not wrong, because:
- Check if you have some broke new files
- Check if your ISP has changed some php configurations
- Check DB version (if necessary)
- Clean your cache

Alby,

Thanks for your prompt response and clarification. Looks like I'm ok with file over-write as none of the other parameters should have changed. I did use the "diff" packages.

Thanks again,

Dave
