Intuitive-Soul.com -not an ordinary little psychic shop

Post by Essie »

Hi there,

Just want to thank the developer for creating this wonderful and affordable cms script.  It is so easy to use that it blends seamlessly with my other php cms programs.  Since much of my website portion relies on using some sort of cms scripts -for forum, gallery, guestbook, and article - I needed a cms plainly for the rest of my miscellaneous html pages.  Instead of using html pages which drove me nuts everytime I had to update little bits, I used CMS Made Simple.  So my entire section on my psychic consulting services was generated by CMS Made Simple.

At first it was very confusing for me to learn all the features offered at the admin cp.  Once I got the hang of it, it was very easy.  What I find it most amazing was that it even allowed me to use complicated javascript for my dhtml menu in the template section.  And I get no error messages and the rest of my javascript don't get affected by it.  The other cms scripts (open source version) I used before could not handle the javascript as well as CMS Made Simple did.

To see it live in action, go to: www.Intuitive-Soul.com
and click on "Psychic Readings" link.  Of course, as you are visiting, should you wish to order my services, please do not hesitate to contact me.  ;)

Thanks!  :-* :-* :-*

it's nice, but I don't think it's all that. it screams a little, especially with such busy background and lots of images, but that's just taste.

Thanks for the feedback and for checking out the site. :P

Yes Alby, I am already using & instead of & in the title.  Thanks for the tip anyway. :-*

Amygdela, yeah... perhaps there are too many images.  The original versions of this website used less than 10 images and all my viewers complained it was too plain.  So in the 4th version, I added little images here and there but those are about as much as you will see for the template.  The rest is pretty much all text.  But you're right, I am very background colors and images.  That is my personal taste when it comes to design  :P

Very pretty, but slow loading, remember the 56kers :)

Reduce the image sizes, and you have a great little site

And I totally respect your choice! Really, if you're into high-graphics designs it's totally up to you...! I'm just a freak when it comes to accesibility and fast loading pages and I prefer to design static business designs :)
Two different worlds...

I like very much the look and feel of your menu, and the font in images, what's that font name?

Cheers
Hi Patricia,
Thanks for the compliment about the menu.  With regard to the menu images, each of them has a file size of 8 or less kb.  Most are within 3-6 kb file sizes to reduce the loading time.  Despite my best efforts, I realize the image rollover effect does at the extra loading stress.  However since majority of my viewers are high speed internet users, I hardly get any complaints from my viewers. :P

The font name is called "Asrafel".  I got the free true type font from Bravenet.com.  They have several variety of font styles.

Speaking of fonts, what is your font name on your signature?  And where can I get it?  It looks pretty cool. :D

This script is so versatile. I decided to add a Chinese version of my website using the same CMS.  And in less than 2 days, I've got my Chinese version up and running.  Of course, the Chinese site is much smaller than my English website since I am not that proficient at writing Chinese characters.  Still, I am in awe and pleased that I could use the same script to build a Chinese website so smoothly.  :D  Typing Chinese characters did not affect the script at all.

This is my first time creating a website in another language besides English.  So I am just thrilled and excited about my new self-discovery.  Just thought I would share my joy with anyone who cares to read this thread.  :P

Your site looks great - well done. I'm trying to implement a graphical rollover vertical navigation system into my second CMSMS site. Could you please point me in the right direction? NOt sure where to start.

Suffrinmick,
I know CMS has own feature that automatically creates the vertical navigation system.  You just have to insert that feature into your template or something.  I never get around learning how to implement it.  I read a few topic threads here about it and it sounds a bit confusing.  So what I did was I used html_blob feature instead.

All I wanted was a simple vertical navigation system.  To me, html_blob was enough to satisfy me.  I simply opened up my dreamweaver, played around with CSS codes, then build the individual links.  Of course, by the time you are writing your links down, you should have obtained all of the correct url link addresses.  In the CSS codes, all you are doing is playing around with "a, a:hover, a:active" codes.  In mine, I believe I also played around with tag.  Then you insert the html_blob code into your template and viola.  Easy!  And you can alter the vertical menu any time you want in a flip of a second and it would automatically affect the template.

You say you want to create a graphical image rollover effect.  If that's the case, you would first need to create your graphics using any graphic software you've got.  I use photoshop to create all of my web designs.  Then, just use DHTML codes to create the image rollover effect.  If you use dreamweaver, you should already have the feature for you to implement.

Hope this information helps.  If you need more detail instructions on the image rollover, PM me instead.

I had thought about creating an html blob for the menubar, but when I removed the CSSMenu and inserted the navigation blob the content was "pushed" down the page so that it started after the navigation and not at the side of it.

Just want to say that back in December, I finally took the time to change the entire website look and feel. Thanks to the previous guys' and gal's feedback at this forum. In this 5th version, I totally cut down on the graphics to minimal. I also removed the image rollover stuff. So the site looks cleaner and neater.

The site is currently using the Maui version of CMSmadeSimple. I used the built in dhtml menu bar for navigation which looks really slick. And I used the google adsense as gobal content block. My most favorite one is using the news module and also the user defined tags for my php codes. I cannot believe there so many new tags since I last upgraded my CMSmadeSimple. I went wild using as many of them as possible.

Since I changed and updated my entire website, I also maximize the benefit of adding individual tag in each page. For each of my web page generated by CMSmadeSimple, it has different relevant keyword and description. Previously, I just set up my tags once at Global Setting. But I found later on this not a good idea as it decrease chance of google indexing each web page. It also throws off the keyword relevancy. It's best to write separately since normally each web content would discuss differently than the other. So having the exact same {metadata} was not really a good idea. It may explain why search engines were not indexing my site that often. However, since I took the time to edit and improve each of my web page, it made a remarkable difference in my website. It was more SEO friendly and after a month, I actually began attracting a lot of new visitors from my local!!! Man, this script is so amazing!!! A total time saver and business saver too.  :-*

Too bad I cannot seem to get any of the form mail type of modules to work for me like newsletter and contact form. So I did not include them. But overall, I still get good results using CMSmadeSimple.  :D

Thanks guys for creating this great and handy script!!! I love ya all!!!
