Permissions on file mananger uploads

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Permissions on file mananger uploads

Post by rubberglover »

Hi there,

I've just changed hosts on a CMSMS site and just ported all the files over via FTP. Problem is the all the files in uploads are now 'owned' by the FTP user, and thus can't be deleted / renamed etc. in file manager without dropping the security on the permissions. This site has been compromised in the past and the client is very security conscious so I don't really want to leave all the folders on 777 and files on 666 etc. Normally I would just re-upload them all but there it's about 200MB worth spread over literally hundreds and hundreds of files so it will take an age. I tried zipping them up into tgz files and having the server decompress them on upload which made a re-upload more manageable, and this solved the problem of ownership and the folders are all set at 751 which is cool, but all the files have ended up on 204, which means I can't actually browse to them! The files that are born out of these .tgz uploads also don't show up in my FTP client either which is a bit odd... anyone know of an easy way around this problem?

Many thanks!
