My latest run in with tinyMCE not showing up in backend and the solution...

Had to set modules and tiny folders to 755, and tmp to 777...
Delete all files in tmp/templates_c except index.html...
Cleared cache of site in Site Admin » Global Settings...
Uninstall tiny in Extensions » Modules...
Cleared site cache again...
Install tinyMCE...

It works...

I was having the same problem as the original poster with the toolbar not showing my settings for the front end, but showing the back end toolbars instead.

I'm running CMSMS 1.5.1 and had tiny 2.4.8.

To fix it, I tried everything suggested in this thread and nothing worked. So finally, I uninstalled Tiny and uploaded the files for 2.4.1 and everything is working now.

I know this isn't the best fix ever, but it did work for what I needed it for.

...not for me, unfortunately. I may have to install an earlier version...or something.

It may also help to go to the Advanced tab and hit the "Reset all settings to defaults" button...
