New install, TinyMCE not showing by default

Post by skypanther »

I have a new install of CMS-MS 1.5.2 on the same old web server (my demo) server on which I have installed prior versions many times. When editing pages, TinyMCE does not show up unless I uncheck the show/hide box. The same site, run on my local Windows XP development PC works just fine.

My demo server a Windows Server 2008 server, so I can't set file permissions (they're all 777 or 666)--some forum messages have implied permissions problems. I have uninstalled the module and reinstalled. I installed a prior version. I've tried every option I can imagine would have any effect. I've cleared the admin cache. I've checked my user preferences a bunch. I tried creating an Editor rather than Admin level account. Still, until I uncheck that box, I don't get the WYSIWYG buttons.

I see no errors with firebug. I have examined the logs and don't see anything obvious (404s on TinyMCE files for example).

My demo server is running IIS (whatever version comes with Win2K8) and my local XP computer is running Apache. That's about the only significant difference.

Any thoughts of what to try next?

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim, I have the same setup with the same problem, but I can't get it to display at all, checked or unchecked. Doesn't work on my local Vista/WAMP setup either.

I installed FCKeditor as an alternative, and it seems to work, but it doesn't pick up the default font from the page CSS or wherever it's supposed to get that info from. I played a bit with folder permissions in IIS 5, but it didn't help.

So, it seems there's some common problem here ...

Regards, Adrian
